Vocational - Dallas
The vocational department offers gainful employment for the adults in the
program. The skills and interests of the individual are matched with
employment opportunities that are either at ATC’s location or out in the
community with area businesses. Job Coaches offer support and provide the
necessary training for the job to be performed at performance expectations average or above
average. All Adults are employed and receive bi-monthly paychecks; those employed in the community receive minimum wage
or better.
In addition to community employment, the Center offers an internal
employment opportunity known as DATCO (Dallas Autism Treatment Center Company) resources, a paper recycling
business. Area businesses donate their paper waste; DATCO workers pickup,
sort, bale and sell the paper to area recycling vendors. The revenue from
the sales pays for the salaries for the workers and other vocational
department needs. DATCO has proven to be a very satisfying job experience
for the DATCO employees and is an award winning company receiving recognition
at both the city and state levels.
