Residential - San Antonio
 The Autism Treatment Center in San Antonio provides living options in the
community. Currently there are 5 group homes serving more than 30 consumers.
Single-family homes in area neighborhoods are matched with an individual’s needs
and capabilities.
House Managers and
Personal Care Assistants (PCAs) are teachers, friends and companions to the
adults and children in the residential program. Services are delivered within
the community and are focused on integration and maximizing independence. Low
student/staff ratios are maintained to maximize individual attention and to
address special needs. Programming addresses the development of communication,
self-help, independent living skills and social/recreational skills. Weekly
grocery shopping helps to reinforce basic principles of daily living.
Community activities are designed to enhance learning and develop awareness. Recreational
activities e.g., picnicking, bowling, swimming, Sea World, help to build
interpersonal skills while at the same time provide exercise and opportunities for interaction
within the neighborhood and community.
