Residential Services
ATC owns single-family and duplex group homes in Dallas and San Antonio. Residents are matched with staff and fellow residents that meet their needs, interests, and abilities. Staff members serve as personal care assistants, teachers, and friends offering a warm and accepting environment. Activities in the home include learning how to be a contributing household member, meeting personal grooming needs, enjoying leisure activities and participating in community events. Outings to grocery stores, malls, parks, restaurants, movies, and exercise (walking, biking, swimming) increase social skills and well-being.
ATC provides residential services through publicly funded Texas programs, including HCS, ICF, and FPS. These services are not private pay and are not insurance-based. Individuals must first be connected to their local intellectual and developmental disability authority (LIDDA) and Texas Health and Human Services, which coordinate eligibility, authorization, and program access.

How to access Residential Services at ATC:
|
Step 1: Connect with your local authority.
Individuals and families begin by contacting their local LIDDA, which helps determine eligibility and serves as the starting point for publicly funded IDD services in Texas. |
Step 2: Complete eligibility and program review.
The local authority and Texas Health and Human Services help determine whether the person qualifies for the appropriate level of service and program support, such as HCS or ICF/IID. |
Step 3: Explore residential options.
Once a person is authorized for services, the local authority and HHSC may help identify available providers and residential settings that match the person’s needs. If ATC is an available and appropriate option, the individual may be referred for placement or admission through the applicable public program process. |
Step 4: Move into services with coordinated support.
After approval, ATC works with the person, family, and funding/support partners to coordinate transition into residential services. |
