Volunteer

From painting a room to sprucing up our garden or helping with a special event, we have many opportunities throughout the year to lend a hand at ATC. Our volunteers truly make a difference in the lives of the children and adults at ATC.

For more than a year, Angie Nichols has been donating much-needed supplies to ATC’s school, clinics, adult day services program, and group homes - making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

Born in Garland, Texas, Angie’s life took an unexpected turn at age 26 when she contracted encephalitis from a mosquito bite and spent a month in a coma.
After a long and difficult recovery that required relearning basic motor skills, Angie emerged as a brain injury survivor with a renewed sense of purpose. Driven by her desire to help others, Angie began serving nursing home residents by delivering baked goods and companionship - an act of kindness that became the foundation of her organization, Hugs of Love. Today, her ministry partners with organizations such as Five Loaves Food Pantry, Women In Need, and Veterans Outpost Ministry, and proudly supports ATC. We are deeply grateful for Angie’s compassion and generosity, and for the hope and resilience she brings to so many lives.

Subrina Calloway and her organization, First Class Divas & Dons, have been proudly serving the ATC community since 2019. A Dallas native and Roosevelt High School alum, Subrina’s life journey has been shaped by both profound loss and incredible resilience. After losing her two young sons in a tragic house fire, Subrina experienced the strength of community support - an experience that later inspired her to give back in meaningful ways.

Motivated by her beloved goddaughter Rika, who was born with autism and epilepsy, Subrina founded First Class Divas & Dons in 2012 to support children with autism and their families. Over the years, Divas & Dons have provided birthday parties, outings, toys, and donation drives benefiting ATC’s programs and families. Subrina has become a dear friend to ATC, and we are deeply grateful for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering support.

Futu Clearing is a sponsor of the Roundup for Autism benefitting ATC. When employees who work remotely recently traveled to Dallas for business they jumped at the chance to give back in person and we had just the right project. The Roundup for Autism has helped fund the renovation of two of our group homes for adults with autism. One of these homes was ready for some final touches to prepare for the residents to move back in. The Futu team arrived ready to plant flowers, rake leaves, clean, and decorate! As staff worked alongside our new volunteers, we learned that many have a personal connection to autism through family or friends which made this day even more special. We are so thankful for our new friends who made a big impact during their time in town.

Christy Losoya, Julie Alexander, Rosalind Reeder volunteering at Art for Autism on October 8th.
Christy Losoya began volunteering with ATC San Antonio over 10 years ago. She started out collecting presents and hosting holiday parties with Santa for our residents and students as a member of the Women of AT&T service group. A few years later she started volunteering at almost every ATC event and she never came alone. Christy still recruits friends and co-workers to help ATC and always brings at least one of her 3 children to volunteer, too. We are so grateful for everything Christy does for the children and adults in our programs. She inspires us!
