Learn how the special education system works and how you can be an effective advocate for your child during the ARD (Admission, Review & Dismissal) process. In this training you will: Learn the basics of special education and its alternatives. Be introduced to the evaluation process and eligibility for special education. Be given insight on data collection and its uses. Be given tools and tips to use in order to effectively advocate for your child.

This course will make your child's IEP - Individualized Education Plan - make sense. The instructor will take you page by page through an actual IEP so you can see firsthand what each area is and why it is there. You will gain a general working knowledge of how to use each element of the IEP to build on the different parts so that it comes together as one cohesive document. In this training you will: Get a general overview of the main components of your child's IEP Learn how to tie the different areas of your child's IEP together to make sense Gain insight on how to take charge on deciding what should or shouldn't be in your child's IEP.
